Employment Development Manager

Key Responsibilities:

Work Life Graduate Support

  • Create a welcoming and inviting opportunity to assist Work Life (WL) graduates in their job search journey.

  • Utilize Salesforce to effectively track job search activities for individuals who engage in job searches.

  • Provides one-on-one and group training sessions to assist graduates in learning and/or enhancing their online computer skills to assist with job searches, creating email accounts, completing online applications, etc.

  • Keep a current list of job openings/opportunities by joining online sites and forming relationships with staffing services or other businesses and organizations who provide job opening notices

  • Provide transportation, when necessary, to and from job interviews or occasionally to and from work (only in limited circumstances)

  • Effectively recruit WL graduates to ensure that these available services are made known

  • Train and supervise the Employment Development Assistant in their daily duties and responsibilities.

Staffing Services

  • Support in the development of new temp-to-hire staffing partnerships and the continued servicing of existing relationships.

  • Support the Warehouse Manager by identifying willing and able WL graduates to fulfill staffing needs for both Advance Memphis warehouses

  • Track employee performance and provide the necessary feedback to ensure issues are addressed in a timely manner to prevent or minimize disruption in the production flow.

  • Ensure that all staffing stats are tracked and recorded in Salesforce to help with yearend reporting as well as providing the necessary information to assist with grants

  • Periodically spend time in our warehouse(s) while our grads are working to learn some of the processes, observe firsthand employee performance, and to address any employee issues as described by the Warehouse staff.

  • Encourage continuous recruitment of WL graduates to ensure that all open positions in our warehouses are filled in the most effective and expeditious manner with the best qualified candidate(s).

Trauma Healing -Join in Advance Memphis’s efforts to create a trauma informed community by:

  • Creating a safe space for program attendees or graduates who need to talk about daily stress or trauma

  • Encourage professional counseling by helping to combat resistance due to fear or distrust.

  • Work with the list of current partners and help to identify additional professionals who are willing to assist our neighbors through counseling

  • Effectively track our graduates in Salesforce, who choose counseling to deal with their trauma

Required Key Sills and Qualifications:

  • At least two years of experience in a temporary staffing or HR Generalist position

  • Must be a Connector and willing to listen and patiently guide our neighbors through job searches and other sometimes difficult situations that hinder successful employment

  • Strong communication skills to distribute unbiased, easily understood information to diverse audiences

  • Time management and strong administrative skills and/or the ability and willingness to learn and utilize Salesforce for program tracking

  • Exhibit a high level of self-directedness, initiative, and attention to detail when completing any task

Organizational Standards and Accountability:

In addition to the specific tasks previously described, this position is required to contribute significantly to promoting a highly functioning organizational and team-learning environment, and as such, the Employment Development Manager should be:

  • A Christian who believes God’s word is truth and lives it out in every area of his/her life.

  • Willing to share God’s unmerited grace to others through word and deeds

  • Able to show a positive attitude and a willingness to work with the Advance Memphis team to share the gospel and help residents of South Memphis

  • A member of a local church who attends on a regular basis, and is willing to invite our South Memphis neighbors to join them in worship

  • In attendance at manager and staff meetings as appropriate

  • Able to follow through with assignments and complete them in a timely manner

  • Able to demonstrate a knowledge of Microsoft Office and intermediate use of Excel or consent to training

  • Must hold a bachelor's degree or higher

  • Perform other duties and ad hoc activities as assigned by the Director of Programs
