After-School Care Counselors are in charge of children age 2 through eighth grade that stay after school. In this role, your duties could include leading a variety of activities, games, serving snacks, helping students with homework. After-school care counselors offer students the chance to be productive and have fun in a safe and supportive environment.Successful After School Care Counselors possess the following qualities and/or skills:- Strong communication skills, counselors must be able to talk with students and colleagues about the progress of children in their care- Patience and strong decision-making skills- Instructional and Interpersonal skills- Ability to regularly sit, turn, bend, reach, walk, talk, hear and visually observe students and the environment- Ability to follow and enforce safety policies- Flexibility and adaptability to new situations- Assist in recreation programs- Assist with student check‐in/out- Attend all training meetings- Willingness to work indoors and outdoors- Must be 18 years old or older and be able to pass a background and reference checkWork Hours and Compensation:The position of After School Care Counselor is a seasonal position that is paid once a month, starting salary is $10/hour.
