The Impact you will have:
The Assistant Controller plays a critical role in providing high-level support to the Corporate and Regional Controller. This includes ensuring that the financial records are accurate and compliant with accounting standards and regulations, managing and maintaining the Company’s financial activities, and ensuring accuracy within the general ledger details, including supporting schedules and subledgers. The person must have excellent analytical and communication skills, as well as a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices. They must be able to effectively manage a staff of accounting and financial specialists.

What you will be doing:
- Understand and follow “The VC3 Way”. This is our set of standards and processes that produce a predictable result for the client. You must be aware of and maintain our standards.
- Financial Management:
- Maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger
- Assist Corporate Controller in preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of financial activities, such as month-end and year-end closing processes
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist in monitoring budget variances and provide explanations and recommendations to management
- Conduct financial analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities, revenue enhancement strategies, and areas of financial risk
- Assist in the preparation of financial projections and business plans for potential investments or new projects
- Financial Reporting and Compliance:
- Prepare and submit financial reports to regulatory authorities
- Assist in staying up to date with accounting standards and changes in financial regulations, implementing necessary adjustments in financial reporting practices
- Support external auditors in the review of financial records and processes
- Manage tax compliance and reporting, including income tax, sales tax, and payroll tax
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead and manage the accounting team, providing guidance, training, and support
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to streamline processes and enhance efficiency
Additional Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and real time timesheets
- Receive mentoring and feedback from peers and others
- Actively Participate in Team Huddles, L10 Meetings, One on One Meetings, and any other Team Meetings
- Attend training & team meetings as required
- Ensure work aligns with VC3 standards
- Assist VC3 team members as required.
- Maintain constant and clear communication with colleagues
- Collaborate with all VC3 departments to maximize client satisfaction
- Continuously provide feedback to help improve processes and procedures to provide superior service
- Provide or facilitate timely responses and guidance to client requests
- Maintain documentation, processes, and standards through the change management processes
- Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the products and services that are offered
- Additional duties as required
The tools you bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency with current financial software
- Understanding of US GAAP
- Financial Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and financial analysis
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and draw meaningful insights for decision-making
- Attention to Detail: Meticulousness in ensuring accuracy and precision in financial records, calculations, and reports
- Organizational Skills: Effective organization and time management skills to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and prioritize workload
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Aptitude for identifying financial issues, investigating discrepancies, and proposing practical solutions
- Ethical Conduct: High ethical standards and adherence to professional codes of conduct and confidentiality
- Technological Proficiency: Familiarity with accounting software, spreadsheet applications (e.g., Excel), and financial management systems
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders
- Teamwork: Collaboration skills to work effectively in teams
- Continuous Learning: Commitment to staying updated with industry regulations, accounting standards, and emerging trends
- Numerical Aptitude: Proficiency in working with numbers, mathematical calculations, and financial analysis
