WORK TYPE: Fulltime, Exempt


LOCATION: Hybrid - Memphis, Tennessee


TRAVEL REQUIREMENT: Travel is minimal, any travel would be primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected for meetings.


HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

The Financial Analyst is an important member of our Varsity Event Finance team by advising senior regional management on key financial decisions, overseeing a region’s financial health by analyzing data, assisting with the creation of financial reports, managing event budgets and forecasts.


WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Partner with regional management to advise on financial decisions to ensure financial success of regional events.

  • Develop and manage event budgets, forecast future financial performance in season.

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Identify areas for cost reduction, implement cost-saving measures, and monitor expenses against budgets.

  • Ability to interpret complex financial data and draw meaningful conclusions.

  • Effectively communicate financial information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Ensure adherence to accounting standards and financial regulations.

  • Assist with the building of pricing models that ensure the business is maintaining healthy margins season after season.


QUALIFICATIONS:


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel

  • Strong familiarity with productivity tools such as Microsoft Office Suites

  • Working knowledge of finance and accounting processes and principles; Knowledge of GAAP

  • Keen analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to learn new systems and processes quickly

  • Proficiency in financial modeling techniques is a plus.

  • Ability to work well independently and in collaboration with others

  • Project management skills and ability to multi- task and manage competing priorities

  • Strong analytical and data gathering skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field; or 3 years of direct experience in accounting or finance


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This job operates in a professional office environment. Largely a sedentary role with some filing requiring the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary. Ability to sit or stand for long periods through meetings and while operating office equipment, PC’s, laptop, telephone will be required.
