TRAVEL REQUIREMENT: Event travel and attendance at staff meetings & trainings is required. Event travel will include overnight stays for events.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
Varsity Spirit is looking for a Marketing Specialist, Retail to join our team in Memphis, TN.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Campaign & Channel Management
- Build, coordinate, and execute the marketing calendar across email, SMS, social media, web content, and paid marketing channels.
- Lead go-to-market strategies for new products and other retail initiatives across eCommerce, onsite, and B2B collaborations.
- Partner with creative teams to develop compelling headlines, copy, and assets that optimize retail performance.
- Collaborate with the Content Marketing team to cross-promote initiatives across business units while maintaining a consistent brand voice.
- Monitor and respond to consumer engagement on organic and paid social channels; manage influencer briefs, UGC needs, KPIs, and gifting.
Ecommerce & Merchandising
- Partner with the eCommerce team to create and optimize product detail pages (PDPs), including descriptions, images, SEO, and bundling/cross-sell strategies.
- Manage tactical photoshoot logistics and create content onsite.
- Develop and implement strategies for visual merchandising both onsite and online.
- Create and manage launch checklists to ensure flawless execution for new product releases and campaigns.
Performance & Data
- Own first-party data automations, flows, and marketing automation platform (MAP) execution.
- Track and analyze campaign and product performance metrics, providing actionable insights to guide future strategy.
- Manage and monitor product reviews across retail websites, providing feedback for product optimization and consumer experience improvements.
Events & Special Projects
- Coordinate event advertising needs, including AV packages and Varsity TV deliverables.
- Oversee onsite content creation and execution at events to support retail activations.
- Support cross-functional initiatives such as new product development by leveraging consumer insights.
QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Keen analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to learn new systems and processes quickly
- Ability to work well independently and in collaboration with others
- Ability to multi- task and manage competing priorities
- Strong familiarity with productivity tools such as Microsoft Office Suites.
- Highly organized, collaborative, and results-driven.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- BS/BA in marketing, communications or equivalent
- Entry level to 3 years of Marketing, Communications or related field experience preferred
- A background in cheerleading, dance or band a plus
- Varsity Spirit camp staff experience a plus
- Creativity, passion, integrity and energy

- This job operates in a professional office environment. Largely a sedentary role with some filing requiring the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary. Ability to sit or stand for long periods through meetings and while operating office equipment, PC’s, laptop, telephone will be required.
- During events the ability to stand and walk for long periods of time (5 hours plus) is required. The ability to communicate with customers and colleagues using the following but not limited to radio, walkie talkie, text message and email is required. The ability to lift, bend, push, pull and manipulate equipment that is a minimum of 30 lbs. is required.
