YOUR OPPORTUNITY:
The Production Team is looking for a Machine Maintenance Technician to join our HJ Family in Indianapolis, IN.
This is a regular, full-time position with benefit eligibility including, medical, dental, vision, life, 401(k), paid time off, and additional voluntary benefits.
Standard shift: There is a standard 1st rotating shift working 5:00am – 1:30pm, 6:00am – 2:45pm, or 7:00am – 3:45pm.
Hours could fluctuate to ten- and twelve-hour days during peak season including Saturdays and Sundays if necessary due to customer demands. Seasons do vary between January through the end of May. On call availability may also be required.
HERE'S HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT:
The Machine Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring smooth operation of machinery and mechanical equipment that produce Herff Jones products. A strong focus on safety, quality, customer satisfaction, time management, and a balance of priorities will be vital to operating successfully in the role.
WHAT YOU’LL DO ON A DAILY BASIS:
Work directly with Production Supervisors to assess equipment needs and challenges affecting daily operations.
Evaluate, troubleshoot, and implement corrective actions on all machinery and auxiliary assembly equipment.
Provide support to the fabrication of machine components and fixtures or support the repairs and improvements of mechanical devices which support the production department. Proficient with mills, lathes, grinding, welding, electrical, controls, and reverse engineering.
Provide training support to operators and other maintenance personnel in equipment designs and functions.
Consult with Facility Engineer on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic repairs and modifications.
Read and interpret sketches, drawings, diagrams, and blueprints.
Use a personal computer and appropriate computer software.
Operate with a high level of personal organization.
Consistently deliver the best in customer service. As an employee, demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy in each encounter with customers, visitors, and other employees.
Perform all duties of other maintenance positions as required.
Maintain a clean work area and shop.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE TABLE:
Five years of relevant work experience in manufacturing maintenance with knowledge of electronics, hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and strong electrical background.
Proficient in electrical print reading and understanding.
Knowledge in automated equipment with the ability to support the electronic interface, mechanical installation, design/fabrication (machine and welding), repairs, and maintenance of equipment.
Technical training in manufacturing maintenance, electronic engineering, or manufacturing engineering is preferred.
Effectively communicate (listening, writing, and verbal) across all organizational levels to accomplish tasks assigned.
Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office and learning new systems/technology with understanding some work is processed manually.
Demonstrated success in troubleshooting and implementing corrective action processes in equipment repair reduce excessive downtime.
Be a self-starter and work independently in the absence of supervision.
Basic math and engineering skills to support the design or modification of equipment or fixtures as required.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
Daily activities include but are not limited to:
Regularly required to walk, stand, use of hands to handle, hold, grasp, and reach.
Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Occasionally required to sit, climb, and balance.
Reading, communication, simple math.
Ability to regularly move and lift/carry more than 50lbs.
Occasionally encounter working with heights, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, heat, and electricity.
The noise level in the work environment is moderate to above moderate.
