Clinical Pharmacy Specialists at St. Jude serve as an integral member of the patient care team and play a vital role advancing our mission. Key activities include clinical practice, including working under a collaborative practice agreement; education of patients, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals; collaborative research; and quality improvement initiatives.
The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist assesses pertinent clinical and laboratory information regarding patient’s status by making appropriate recommendations for drug therapy management and engages with relevant clinical teams to support clinical services lines by addressing relevant patient needs.
Job Responsibilities:
- Engage with relevant clinical teams to support clinical service lines by addressing relevant patient needs and issues related to primary assigned service line.
- Properly assess pertinent clinical and laboratory information regarding a patient's current status and make appropriate recommendations for drug therapy management.
- Interpret pharmacokinetic and metabolic support lab results relevant to specific patient requirements.
- Provide appropriate patient education to ensure proper medication adherence.
- Support achievement of established service line and department goals/objectives in compliance with department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards.
- Participate in implementation of relevant performance improvement activities.
- Support the development and implementation of relevant policies and treatment guidelines.
- Execute assigned tasks related to investigational studies, clinical research, and statistical principles.
- Assist in maintenance of key processes supporting service line/area of specialty.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Minimum Education and/or Training:
- Pharm.D. accredited by the American Council of Pharmacy Education.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Certification by the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties in a relevant area (e.g., Pharmacotherapy, Oncology, Nutrition Support) required within 12 months of hire.
Minimum Experience:
- Pharm.D. accredited by the American Council of Pharmacy Education with PGY2 residency or 4+ years of pharmacy practice experience at St. Jude or comparable institution.
- Pediatric and/or oncology experience preferred.
- Proven experience in earlier role/comparable role.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by Law:
- (LC: PHARM-TN) Licensure by the Tennessee State Board of Pharmacy within 90 days of hire.

Compensation

This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
