Job Description

Under the supervision of the Manager – Logistic Operations, the Specialist – Logistics & Warehouse Operations is responsible for the support of ALSAC warehousing operations including mail processes, non-monetary donations, and event set up. This position qualifies as a generalist and will support ALSAC logistic operations in all areas as needs arise.

The day-to-day activity includes assisting in the processing of non-monetary gifts received for use within the ALSAC/St. Jude operations, including corresponding with ALSAC Liaison Office (ALO) regarding donating items to the hospital, supporting the event needs for on and off campus events, logistics and facility operation support.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Responsible for managing the transfer of materials between warehouses / facilities. Cross trains on warehouse and mail operations, to act as a backup as needed.

2. Supports warehouse functions by receiving LTL deliveries and shipments and maintaining inventory levels.

3. Supports Non-Monetary Operations by processing (NM) non-monetary donations including toys, clothing, crafts, books, etc. for storage and distribution to St. Jude and other organizations as directed. Responds to requests for non-monetary donations from St. Jude and other organizations as needed. Ensures that donor cash, checks and credit card information is properly forwarded to the ALSAC cash room for processing.

Requires use of a personal computer.

4. Resolves issues and responds to questions relating to (NMO) non-monetary operations from ALO, staff and other ALSAC departments in accordance with established policies and procedures. Utilizes speaking and writing skills to communicate with of ALSAC staff as required.

5. Supports ALSAC events and facility operations areas as needed. Includes set up and take down of tables and chairs and other event materials for at assigned location on and off the St. Jude campus including other campus events as specified. Responds professionally and efficiently to client requests and/or last-minute changes. Evening and weekend hours may be required.

6. Uses relatively high degree of concentration to maintain all incoming and outgoing event materials. Involves use of company vehicles, forklift, and other mechanical equipment. Involves use of personal computer and cell phone.

7. Maintains storage areas to ensure that items are secure and can be easily located. Maintains efficient space use and organization of all on hand materials.

8. Maintains inventory of supplies used within warehouse logistics and non-monetary gift program.

9. Maintains a positive relationship with several areas of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

10. Works closely with supervisor on status of old jobs, materials, etc.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Performs other duties as assigned.

2. Performs job duties as assigned as part of ALSACs Business Continuity Management Program, including annual maintenance and testing of business continuity, disaster recovery and emergency response plans.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • This activity is primarily in a warehouse environment and requires standing for a considerable amount of time and lifting boxes potentially weighing 70 lbs
  • Requires ability to understand general arithmetic
  • Must fluently speak and write in a clear and understandable manner for donor contact and internal relations
  • Must understand complex verbal or written instructions; understand data validation/database administration and requires data entry skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (including Word and Excel)
  • Knowledge ordinarily acquired through attainment of high school diploma or GED and 3 years’ experience in customer relations or warehouse environment
