Job Description

Interns join a mission where they learn more about how we’ve become one of the most trusted nonprofits brands in the industry.

ALSAC’s Program offers an immersive experience where interns experience our culture, contribute to organization’s goals through projects, and build relationships with team members and senior leadership. During the summer internship, interns are assigned to a day-to-day manager where they are with provided meaningful assignments. After 12 weeks, interns will truly understand what it's like to be a part of the ALSAC/St.Jude. ALSAC/St.Jude was selected as the 100 best internship programs in the U.S. in 2022 by WayUp and Yello.

ALSAC Summer Intern Innovation Project: Throughout the internship, interns will have a chance to connect with innovators from across ALSAC and learn the art of Design Thinking. Interns will work in teams, be creative, and participate sessions to help prepare them to present their projects to ALSAC’s CEO and members of our Executive Leadership Team.

  • Start Date: May 20, 2024

  • End Date: August 9, 2024

  • Hours: 40 hours a week (Monday-Friday)

  • Pay Rate: Based on work location

  • Work Location: Headquarters Office in Memphis, TN

Requirements:

  • A passion for our mission!

  • Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program.

  • Must be comfortable with Zoom and Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Power Point.

  • Actively participate in the Summer Intern Innovation Project through cross-functional collaboration with internal stakeholders and your assigned project.

  • Ability to work in a team environment but also work strong independently.

  • Ability to be organized and detailed to balance several projects simultaneously.

  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Specific Internship Description and Preferred Skills:

The Patient Family Outreach team strives to provide an unparalleled positive experience for our patients and families however they choose to engage with ALSAC/St. Jude, while supporting Danny Thomas' dream that patients would be the face and voice sharing the mission of St. Jude. We work to make their experience personal and special, and provide resources specific to their needs, ensuring they feel appreciated and supported.

We help bring the St. Jude brand to life by facilitating the integration of compelling patient family stories with key programs. Areas of expertise include:

  • Patient integration across the organization to include but not limited to marketing and development initiatives

  • Patient family cultivation and stewardship

  • Patient family fundraising

  • Storytelling

  • Patient advocacy, compliance, and ethics

Responsibilities include:

  • Support and assist Patient Family Outreach (PFO) staff in preparation and activation of the St. Jude FedEx Championship.

  • Assist PFO staff in securing patients to participate in on-campus and territory-based St. Jude events.

  • Assist in coordinating travel arrangements for patient families representing St. Jude as brand ambassadors at fundraising events.

  • Maintain the integrity of patient related data by aiding the Senior Advisor of Patient Compliance.

  • Coordinate the execution of partner-related events for patients and their families by supporting PFO Integration staff.

  • Maintain appropriate inventory management of PFO’s storage closet.

Majors preferred: Public Relations, Marketing, Social Media, Journalism, Business Administration, Event Planning

Skills preferred: Interpersonal, Excel, Power Point, Word, Bilingual is a plus.
