ALSAC’s Program offers an immersive experience where interns experience our culture, contribute to organization’s goals through projects, and build relationships with team members and senior leadership. During the summer internship, interns are assigned to a day-to-day manager where they are with provided meaningful assignments. After 12 weeks, interns will truly understand what it's like to be a part of the ALSAC/St.Jude. ALSAC/St.Jude was selected as the 100 best internship programs in the U.S. in 2022 by WayUp and Yello.

Innovation Intern Project
ALSAC Summer Intern Innovation Project: Throughout the internship, interns will have a chance to connect with innovators from across ALSAC and learn the art of Design Thinking. Interns will work in teams, be creative, and participate sessions to help prepare them to present their projects to ALSAC’s CEO and members of our Executive Leadership Team.
Start Date: May 20, 2024
End Date: August 9, 2024
Hours: 40 hours a week (Monday-Friday)
Pay Rate: Based on work location
Work Location: Headquarters Office in Memphis, TN
A passion for our mission!
Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program.
Must be comfortable with Zoom and Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Power Point.
Actively participate in the Summer Intern Innovation Project through cross-functional collaboration with internal stakeholders and your assigned project.
Ability to work in a team environment but also work strong independently.
Ability to be organized and detailed to balance several projects simultaneously.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Specific Internship Description and Preferred Skills:
Not everyone gets to spend their summer at a nonprofit that raises more than $2 billion a year.
Not everyone gets to raise funds and awareness to research and treat childhood cancer, as part of a global movement to raise survival rates for kids everywhere.
Not everyone gets access to nonstop puns and writing nerd-dom.
But you’re not everyone, so come be a summer 2024 Communications intern at ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Flex your writing, organizational and research muscles to assist ALSAC’s media relations and internal communications teams. During your internship, you will do things like:
External - Media Relations
Write interview briefing documents, day-of media plans, press releases, CEO quotes, media alerts and advisories.
Identify target media and write email pitches to interest media in stories about St. Jude.
Research and write about the history and programs of ALSAC and St. Jude for our internal reference resource.
Assist with coordinating and event-day staffing for programs such as St. Jude Runs, an annual relay marathon (1st week of August 2024).
Write stories for ALSAC’s intranet about organizational activities, campaigns and programs.
Write featured announcements to promote events and initiatives.
Help create digital signage that will display on campus and as screensavers for employees working remotely.
Assist with coordination for events such as: CEO Coffee Break (a monthly organization-wide town hall), National Training Meeting (4th week of July 2024).
As with all things in life, there will be some administrative tasks. Don’t worry, we will help you with these items, which include:
Submitting internal forms to coordinate media interviews for patients and executives
Fielding media and information requests
Compiling media reports
Laughing at our jokes.
Majors preferred: English, Public Relations, Communications, Journalism.
Skills preferred: Writing, research, project management and organization. Graphic design a plus.
