Job Description

As a Quality Engineer III, you will be responsible for developing creative solutions for quality concerns, collecting quality metrics for products, and executing design feedback for manufacturing, product quality improvement management, post-sales product quality and services support, and customer satisfaction. You will also modify, apply, and maintain quality standards for products and processes, compile statistical information for quality enhancements, and mentor QE team members on quality assurance and testing processes and procedures across the platform team. You will also have the opportunity to design and implement test automation frameworks, drive QA focus and standards, create and execute test plans and scripts, identify and troubleshoot test failures, analyze and document test data and results, establish and maintain quality performance metrics, implement and communicate quality policies and governance, and manage and establish quality systems and processes.

Essential Job Functions

  • Lead cross-functional problem-solving teams to drive process and product improvements within your assigned product team and across your platform; use QE methodologies to manage and facilitate issue resolution including root cause investigations and the development, implementation, and monitoring of effective corrective and preventive actions.

  • Design and implement test automation frameworks for the QA environment.

  • Drive QA focus and standards as related to Functional and Regression testing.

  • Analyze business and technical requirements to create test plans.

  • Create and execute automated and manual test scripts as related to Functional and Regression testing, Mobile Device testing, and cross-browser testing for a range of client, server, and cloud applications.

  • Identify opportunities for test automation, analyze test runs, document results, and troubleshoot test failures.

  • Analyze test data and document in test reports, perform technical root-cause analysis of failed test automation, and communicate to the team.

  • Establish and maintain quality performance metrics for your assigned product team.

  • Implement and communicate the policies and governance necessary to support the quality assurance components of the software development lifecycle, including ensuring documentation follows high standards of clear communication, accuracy, and precision.

  • Manage and establish quality systems and processes, inspection plans, quality performance trends, statistical plans, cost estimates, and technical quality plans for proposals.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Proficient in a range of leading industry test automation and test management tools, preferably Selenium.

  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of QA processes within the software development lifecycle, and a fundamental understanding of Agile methodologies.

  • Applies knowledge into daily Quality Assurance efforts while maintaining a sufficient functional knowledge of ALSAC/St. Jude’s internet and intranet applications, third-party software solutions, and proprietary developments.

  • Industry certifications (CSQA, CMSQ, ISTQB Fundamental, etc.) are preferred.

  • Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and critical thinking abilities, as well as strong research and analytical skills.

  • Must have good time management skills and be self-motivated and willing to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must have the capacity to learn new technologies; understand complex verbal or written instructions; possess the ability to work effectively; must be well organized and able to work in a team environment.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Quality Assurance/Control, Business, or related field with 5-8 years of experience.
