Job Description
The Media Strategist level resource is responsible for developing paid media plans that can be easily converted into in-platform campaigns by the Media Ops Team or Agency Partners. They combine their digital advertising knowledge, historic campaign performance and media planning tools to craft plans for programmatic media buys. Media Strategists are skilled in relationship management and are clear communicators – who can seamlessly operate within a variety of working teams and effectively communicate with stakeholders and internal business partners.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Develops and manages strategic media plans for search, display, video and/or paid social channels, including time bound and always-on campaigns. In cross-functional teams, works collaboratively with all team members to develop, revise and manage the cross-channel funnel strategy, as it relates to media and associated journeys. Works closely with stakeholders to understand goals and objectives and determine appropriate media mix best suited to reach those goals. Develops targetable audience strategies across media channels and platforms based on desired target audience(s). Dedicates time to further develop media platform skills and understanding through self-paced trainings and is consistently using media planning tools in campaign planning. Stays up-to-date with ever-changing media and data privacy landscape and works collaboratively to identify solutions to disruptions.
2. Maintains holistic media and audience tactical plan across channels and tactics; Establishes media budgets and projection forecasts per channel and holistically in coordination with the Media Ops Team or Agency Partners, as needed; Works alongside audience strategists and media leads to maintain documentation of audience targeting across media platforms in audience library; Develops detailed, channel-specific media plans built for seamless and immediate execution of in-platform campaigns by the Media Ops Team or Agency Partners.
3. Works cross-functionally with Media Ops/Agency Partners, Analytics and User Experience Teams on setting goals and forecasting ROI projections; Works collaboratively with Media Lead and Sr. Media Strategists, as needed, to ensure appropriate media channel mix; Works alongside audience strategists and user experience strategists to ensure correct audience taxonomy architecture; Provides input and guidance on creative assets for media campaigns, clearly communicating asset format and variation needs associated with given channels or tactics; Presents recommended media plans to stakeholders and internal business partners, as needed, to gain approval; Ensures & facilitates cross-channel communication both internally & externally. Keeps open line of communication with manager and other media strategists to ensure media plans have minimal audience overlap.
4. Interprets reporting from Media Ops/Agency Partners and Analytics teams and provides clear analysis summary for stakeholders; Works alongside cross-functional team members to interpret performance insights and identify trends and potential opportunities for strategic shifts or new strategies to be tested.
5. Collaborates with cross-functional team members and internal business partners or integrated marketing, as needed, to communicate and ensure timing of deliverables in order to meet media launch expectations; Effectively prioritizes efforts and time associated to focus on delivering on the most important things; Maintains an effective process for individual project management that enables delivery of work on time and that adheres to team SLAs.
Requirements:
- Knowledge - 3 years of experience in the online advertising space
- Exposure to media and ad technology platforms (DSPs) a must
- Exhibits baseline understanding of how media platforms are used to inform and create media plans
- Experience using media platform planning tools is preferred but not required
- Ability to interpret data insights and trends in order to drive future strategies
- Flexible, versatile and driven to obtain new skills
- Strong written and verbal communication
