Job Description Summary
Under general direction with a high level of autonomy, uses extensive knowledge and skills obtained through education and experience to originate, structure and monitor a wide variety of the most complex tax-exempt loans and cultivate and manage key client relationships. Advises senior management on tax-exempt lending developments and issues. Influences strategic direction and develops tactical plans and completes complex assignments with substantial latitude for unreviewed actions or decisions in compliance with lending parameters. Provides comprehensive solutions to complex problems or needs. End results are evaluated for achieving goals and objectives. Extensive coordination with the Public Finance Group is required to develop, sell or service products to external tax-exempt customers.Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and execute business strategies for tax-exempt banking, targeting state and local governments, municipalities, educational institutions and nonprofit organizations.
- Cultivate and manage relationships with key clients, acting as a trusted advisor.
- Obtains, interprets and evaluates financial information to determine credit worthiness.
- Understands and can negotiate complex loan structures and guaranty agreements, price loans and obtain necessary credit approvals.
- Handles difficult negotiations and credit assessments on an independent basis.
- Contacts customers and prospects to market bank deposit products.
- Monitors existing loans to ensure compliance with terms and takes corrective action on variances.
- Develops and maintains a balanced and sound loan portfolio in conformance with established policies, strategies and procedures.
- Creates a pipeline of business of secure, profitable loans and deposits.
- Provides guidance and direction to less experienced lenders in analyzing financial data and evaluating credit worthiness.
- Interprets, applies and recommends changes to credit policies and procedures.
- Advises senior management on complex tax-exempt lending issues.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge of
- Advanced structures, concepts, practices and procedures of tax-exempt lending.
- Deep knowledge of tax-exempt entities to include understanding of the financial structures, funding sources, and regulatory environment of state and local governments, municipalities, school districts and nonprofit organizations.
- Established organizational policies, strategies and procedures for tax-exempt lending.
- Principles of banking and finance.
