Job Description
The Director, Finance PMO leads strategic planning, governance, execution, and delivery of finance-related programs and projects across the Finance department. This role is responsible for aligning project portfolios with Finance strategy, ensuring delivery excellence, and building a high-performing Finance PMO function that drives operational efficiency and innovation. The Director will serve as a subject matter expert in program and project management, while managing a high-performing Finance PMO team.
Key Responsibilities:
Program & Project Governance
Lead the governance and delivery of complex finance programs and projects using standardized project management methodologies to ensure consistency and transparency
Approve and oversee project plans, ensuring compliance with Finance PMO frameworks and corporate governance frameworks. Develop, maintain, and continuously improve project and program management tools, templates, and standards to support consistent execution and reporting, and meet stakeholder needs.
Strategic Leadership, Planning & Execution
Develop and implement the Finance PMO strategy in alignment with Raymond James’ and the Finance function’s mission, vision, and strategic objectives.
Translate strategic goals into actionable plans that deliver measurable business outcomes.
Anticipate and address complex business challenges and opportunities within the Finance function.
Oversee budgeting, resource planning, and performance tracking for the Finance PMO portfolio.
Drive cross-functional integration and ensure business cases are well-defined, and outcomes are measurable.
Project & Program Planning and Financial Oversight
Lead the development of business cases for key finance projects, ensuring cross-functional integration.
Manage PMO budgets to ensure alignment with strategic priorities and fiscal discipline.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
Identify, build, and manage strong relationships with senior leaders and key internal and external stakeholders across Finance, IT, and other functions.
Lead stakeholder engagement planning and execution to support effective communication.
Champion the Finance PMO’s role in supporting the organization’s mission, vision, and values.
Serve as a trusted advisor on finance project governance and strategic execution.
Operational Excellence
Define and maintain clear roles and responsibilities within the Finance PMO team to support effective delivery and business process optimization.
Ensure adherence to governance policies, regulatory requirements, and risk management protocols.
Drive operational efficiency through structured workflows and performance tracking.
Talent Development
Identify capability gaps and lead initiatives to build project management capabilities across the Finance PMO and broader Finance team.
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of project managers and analysts to achieve their professional potential
Promote a culture of learning, innovation, and excellence.
Risk & Compliance Management
Ensure full compliance with applicable financial regulations, internal policies, and Raymond James governance standards across all Finance PMO initiatives. Proactively Identify, assess, and manage project and program-related risks, implementing mitigation strategies to safeguard delivery and business continuity.
Performance & Change Management
Monitor and report on Finance PMO performance against defined KPIs, strategic objectives, and business outcomes.
Lead change management efforts to support the successful adoption of new systems, processes, and operating models across the Finance department.
Drive continuous improvement by leveraging data-driven insights, stakeholder feedback, and industry best practices to enhance Finance PMO effectiveness and value delivery.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or PMP preferred.
10+ years of experience in finance, project/program management, or PMO leadership.
Proven success in leading enterprise-wide finance transformation initiatives.
Deep understanding of financial systems, governance, and compliance frameworks.
Strong strategic thinking, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Experience with Agile, Lean, or other project delivery methodologies is a plus.
