Job Summary
Under limited supervision, uses specialized generalist knowledge and skills obtained through education and experience to develop business relationships with assigned institutional accounts. Based on knowledge of the client’s needs, coordinate firm efforts to provide services. Regular contact with internal and external customers is required to obtain, clarify, or provide facts or information. Works on complex assignments that are broad in nature, requiring originality and ingenuity with team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Become trained and skilled to effectively and efficiently function in the Generalist role
• Assists in the development and maintenance of relationships with institutional clients.
• Disseminates timely marketing materials for fixed income products and services targeted at institutional investors.
• Responds to inquiries from institutional investors about the department’s investment philosophies, products and services.
• Develops sales goals and strategies to achieve goals incorporating suitability parameters derived from individual client investment policy statements where applicable.
• Works closely with clients investment personnel, advises clients on investment opportunities, and recommends buying and selling of bonds.
• Participates in the generation of new sales ideas and promotion of new products through written sales memos, proactive phone networking and office visits.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge of
• Fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of research analysis.
• Lending markets and products.
• Fundamental investment concepts, practices and procedures used in the fixed income industry.
• Fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of institutional fixed income sales & sales trading.
• Principles of banking and finance and securities industry operations.
• Financial markets and products.
Skill in
• Identifying relationships draw logical conclusions and interpret results for use in decision-making.
• Using technical/professional knowledge, interpersonal and sales skills to obtain customers’ commitment to ideas, services, or products.
• Quantitative and analytical skills sufficient to assist in the evaluation of the bonds and structures.
• Analyzing and interpreting financial statements.

• Operating standard office equipment and using required software application to produce correspondence, reports, electronic communication, and spreadsheets.

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements
Education/Previous Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field and a minimum one (1) year of experience in the financial services industry.
• OR ~
• Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.
Licenses/Certifications
• SIE required provided that an exemption or grandfathering cannot be applied.
• FINRA Series 7 and 63 (if required in state), or ability to obtain within (6) six months of hire.
