Memphis Teacher Residency (MTR) is a faith-based, non-profit organization founded in 2008 to recruit, train, and support effective teachers in a Christian context. MTR accomplishes this goal through the following programs: Residency: MTR trains prospective teachers in a year-long residency model through graduate courses, classroom internship, and personalized coaching. Summer Camps & Fellowships: We offer two fun-filled summer camps, at which college students can intern, to support elementary students in literacy and middle school students in STEM. Memphis Literacy Institute: MLI partners to train teachers and leaders, and support schools toward literacy excellence, so that students taught by MLI-trained teachers are reading at grade level.
