Description

The core purpose of the Pre-Construction Project Manager (PPM) is to lead and manage the Proposal effort and is also responsible for a smooth proposal hand-off from the System Solutions Group (SSG) to the Project Team. This position drives the proposal phase of the project removing obstacles and also drives deliverables such that each team member works together to create a well-defined proposal that ensures contract award.?The PPM creates an environment of striving to achieve preferred selection through DCI’s mission, vision, values, and strategic objectives by continually driving to create proposals focusing on the five critical criteria for all projects (Safety, Timeliness, Execution, Quality, Profitability). The key focal point of the PPM role is to take ownership in the Project Costs Estimate, Schedule, and Scope of Work.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead, manage, and execute day-to-day proposal responsibilities instilling the DCI mission, vision, and values.
  2. Responsible for smooth proposal hand-off from the System Solutions Team (SST) to the Project Team in a manner that reduces risk and ensures project success for the execution team.
  3. Thoroughly review and understand all bid documents, addendums, and customer requests and then summarize and disseminate the documents to the team in a timely manner.
  4. Take ownership of the project proposal and clearly define SOW, Project Schedule, clarifications and exceptions, and sale price.
  5. Understand the requirements of each project and assign appropriate members.
  6. Set the tone for the team by instilling a culture congruent with DCI values while clearly communicating and executing the bid strategy.
  7. Develop the proposal schedule and the proposed project schedule.
  8. Proactive in all planning aspects while anticipating potential risks to allow time to overcome, mitigate, and communicate changes.
  9. Lead regular status update meetings to ensure the team is always focused on the bid strategy.
  10. With an awareness of the project as a whole, be intuitive and think outside the box to create solutions that exceed customer expectations.
  11. Provide input to the team regarding vendor and subcontract selection.
  12. Provide guidance to the estimator in material and labor cost calculations and participate in the internal and executive estimate reviews.
  13. Responsible for the Executive Project Summary form and Executive review meeting.
  14. Develop an awareness of each team member’s unique greatness and leverage team talent to ensure success through coaching and strong leadership.
Requirements

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management is preferred, but an equivalent level of education and experience in the following will be considered:
  • 5 years of Project Management experience in conveyor work; or
  • 10 years of Project Management experience outside of conveyor work
  • PMP or Project Management coursework a plus
  • Involvement at the sales level with the ability to quickly form relationships with the customer and conduct needs analyses.
  • Large project experience with budget reporting, schedule creation, and maintenance at the project level with the proven ability to report to senior management.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead multiple project teams and provide training as needed.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office applications (PC/Mac) including MS Project.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven teamwork and a heart to serve.
  • The ability to lead under pressure while managing a project team(s) while exceeding customer expectations.

Position Information

Department: System Solutions Group

Reports to Vice President of System Solutions Group

Full Time position; salary with benefits

Work Schedule: 45+ hours per week, which may include evenings and weekends.

This position will work out of the home office in Memphis, TN.

Moderate travel to project sites is required (anticipate 25%, varies on project demands)
