BDC Business Hub – Case Manager

The Binghampton Development Corporation (BDC) is a faith-based non-profit community development corporation working to improve the quality of life in the Binghampton community of Memphis TN. Since July 2003, the BDC has pursued a strategy to support the revitalization of this historic neighborhood through housing, economic development and empowerment programs for those plagued by issues of systemic poverty.
The BDC Business Hub provides low barrier to entry transitional employment opportunities for a range of skill levels while teaching both soft and hard skills through on-the-job training in the logistics and recycling sectors.
The BDC’s Business Hub Employee Case Manager personally supports our full time trainees and apprentices, connecting relationally with them, managing their path through the various employment barrier lowering services provided in house or via partners, and helping them discover and navigate their career path after the BDC. The role is site specific, at this time at the Binghampton warehouse location on Yale Ave. The Business Hub Employee Case Manager reports directly to the BDC’s Employee Development Director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Employee support coordination including; walking trainees through legal issues, insurance, driver’s license, banking, and interacting with other like-minded agencies.
- Develops graduate job placements.
- Maintains relationships with program graduates.
Shared Responsibilities with the other Business Hub Staff:
- Co-Teaches and / or facilitates spiritual, life, and work disciplines (job soft skills, financial literacy, OSHA 10, Forklift Certification) to the trainees in a classroom setting (2-3 sessions per week).
- Co-manages HR tasks including; developing and maintaining the paperwork and data during the onboarding and off boarding processes, trainee drug testing, time tracking, payroll, agency reporting, etc.
- Builds relationships with and has targeted conversations with the job trainees.
- Maintains job trainee results by coaching, counseling, and guiding trainees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
Qualifications:
- 8+ years professional experience, at least 3 of which include team leading and program oversight / control.
- Must have experience with spiritual mentoring, coaching, counseling, leading or teaching in some format (either as a volunteer or professionally).
- Collaborates well with people of different races, backgrounds, and educational levels.
The position has target pay range of $55,000 - $60,000.
