SUMMARY
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior DB2 Database Administrator to join our team. This role involves troubleshooting database-related issues, determining root causes, and implementing effective solutions. The successful candidate will manage and administer DB2 Databases and Tables on Mainframe z/OS DB2 Version 12 or higher. This position requires collaboration with Engineers, Information Security, and business application subject matter experts to configure the environment and define standards. The role supports our 24x7 technology operations and includes On-Call responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Serves as a proficient technical resource; provides tech knowledge and capabilities as subject matter expert.
- Provides problem determination and resolution, installs and updates newly developed software to assigned systems
- Develops the most complex database systems for the organization. · Coordinates with senior leaders to determine requirements.
- Analyzes, designs, creates, and implements complex databases including access methods, device allocations, validation checks, organization, and security.
- Interprets internal or external issues and recommends solutions/best practices.
- Designs complex data models, logical and physical databases, data dictionaries and schemas.
- Liaisons with database software vendors and external technical support on issues such as software upgrades, problems, and potential solutions.
- Reviews systems under development and related documentation.
- May participate in vendor selection and relationship management.
- Leads project teams, monitoring project schedules and costs.
- Focus on providing thought leadership and technical expertise across multiple disciplines.
- Recognized internally as "the go-to person" for the most complex Database Administration assignments.
Technical Requirements:
- Technology Degree; 7+ years of working experience
- DB2 v12 or higher experience
- DB2 DDL experience
- Relational integrity relationships
- DB2 utilities - REORG, Unload, Load, COPY, etc
- DB2 Commands - Start, Stop , Display, etc
- DB2Explains and Access Path interpret the method being used to access the data
- Performance monitoring, Tuning, and reporting.
- Knowledge and experience using IBM DB2 administration Tools
- JCL and REXX experience
- Relational Design expertise
- SQL expertise
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree in MIS, Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent required
- 7+ years of IT experience & preferably in Development & Testing.
- Experience with System Automation, Performance Monitoring, Communication Server, CICS, DB2, Batch
Preferred Experience::
- z/OS, DB2 / CICS / DRDA Gateways / RACF / Control-M/T
- DB2 Configuration and Customization / SMS Storage Management
- Oracle Goldengate Replication or similar replication software
- 3rd party DB2 Monitoring Tools
