The Senior Pricing and Project Analyst serves as an internal consultant for the DIY pricing and promotions teams and merchandising department liaising with IT, Commercial, and Marketing. This role supports pricing systems, processes, analyses, and reporting to ensure accurate price execution across new item pricing, everyday pricing, pricing tests, and markdowns. The analyst leads innovation initiatives with the DIY pricing team and other departments, using data-driven analytics to strengthen pricing strategy. Additionally, they support DIY Pricing teams with market analysis, system optimization, and forecasting, while assisting Category Management with competitive intelligence and data mining. This position requires a self-driven individual with strong analytical and interpersonal skills and a solid business acumen.
- Support DIY pricing analysts in fully leveraging the pricing system, conducting in-depth training, develop actionable reporting, and ensuring pricing compliance.
- Support category managers by providing competitive price analyses to better align category strategies with stated business objectives.
- Lead departmental initiatives and projects.
- Create detailed project plans and roadmaps to drive process improvements and innovations.
- Establish and review best practices for the team.
- Analyze enterprise level price optimization to maintain and ensure consistency in pricing best practices.
- Identify and present opportunities to boost profitability and sales through pricing initiatives.
- Use data-driven analytics to assess marketplace and competitive data, aligning pricing strategies with chain and store-specific zones.
- Monitor daily pricing activities across multiple merchandise categories and develop reports to highlight pricing and competitive trends.
- Evaluate the success of pricing changes to ensure alignment with company expectations and approved pricing philosophies.
- Mentor and support team members.
- Resolve issues through data analysis and reporting.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set objectives and long-range goals.
- Identify team performance standards.
- Provide coaching and feedback to build an effective team.
- Direct workload for a team of analysts at the Business and Technology Store Support Center
REQUIREMENTS:
- A Bachelor’s degree (BA, BS) or equivalent in Business Administrations, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or comparable field (preferred)
- Seven years or more of experience in Business Administrations, Price Optimization, Statistics, Engineering, or Merchandising related responsibilities (preferred)
- Knowledge of and interest in activity-based costing, factor analysis, microeconomics, statistical process control, business process analysis, continuous improvement, and business modeling using such techniques as linear regression, experiments, and time series forecasting
- Understanding of database structures; query writing skills required; SAS or Google Big Query a plus
- Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills and the ability to lead and work with/contribute to multiple teams inside and outside of the department
