AutoZone Inc. is currently seeking a Sr. Accountant to join the General Accounting department. This role will be responsible for a variety of high-level accounting activities related to the maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger and the resulting managerial reports and financial statements.

Key Responsibilities:

· Participate in the period-end close process including the preparation of journal entries and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts

· Collaborate with Commercial Credit department on calculation results of doubtful Commercial customers

· Manage the accounting for share based compensation, including planning, analysis, recording and reconciliation of activity

· Perform month-end close analytical review of financial statements for AZ subsidiaries

· Ensure compliance with SOX controls around journal entries, reconciliations and supporting processes and assist with Internal and External auditors

· Identify and implement process improvements to streamline the close process

· Provide training and advice to other functional areas as a subject matter expert on journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and the close process

· Provide ad-hoc reporting and account analysis as required by management; perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

· Bachelor’s Degree (BS, BA) in Accounting required

· CPA or significant progress towards certification

· Demonstrated proactive problem-solving skills

· PC proficient (Microsoft and Web applications)

· 3 – 5 years related experience

· MBA a plus; PeopleSoft or SAP knowledge a plus
