The Associate Financial Analyst is a member of the Merchandising Control team. Merchandising Control provides financial guidance to the buying function within AutoZone, ensuring controls are appropriately designed and effectively operating and risk is appropriately mitigated.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Collaborate with various functional areas including Merchandising, Operations, Marketing, Finance and Supply Chain to assist in the development of annual budgets, latest estimates and weekly forecasts
• Prepare complex journal entries requiring advanced data analysis techniques and strong accounting skills to ensure financial reporting complies with GAAP and company policies
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and analyze account activity for compliance with GAAP and company policy
• Complete ad hoc analyses, including extraction and manipulation of data, as requested. Communicate findings educate/ inform internal and external customers as necessary
• Support finance development efforts by development of appropriate financial policies, process documentation, training programs etc.
• Cross train with other member of the team to ensure continuity; perform other duties as assigned
• Prepare Vendor contracts, including inputting and reconciling the terms of the contracts into an ERP system

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting; Master’s degree a plus. CPA or actively pursuing CPA certification preferred
• 1-3 Years of experience in Accounting, auditing, or related Finance field
• Well organized with high attention to detail; strong initiative, self-starter
• Inquisitive and eager to learn
• Possesses strong research, analytical and problem solving skills. Advanced Excel skills required; experience with SQL and SAS a plus
• Strong human relations and written communications skills
