Position Description
The Pricing Analyst acts as a partner with the category managers to provide pricing guidance to support the merchandising teams by utilizing all available tools and reports to support the overall company objectives. The position is responsible for supporting pricing integrity (price accuracy) decision implementation across the entire pricing lifecycle including initial pricing, promotional pricing, and markdown/clearance pricing. This role is directly responsible for using data-driven analytics to develop insights in order to strengthen recommendations around lifecycle pricing strategies. The Pricing Analyst supports Category Management Teams by data mining and presenting findings as they build merchandising strategies.
Job Duties:
• Consult with category managers (CMs) on business decisions to provide a statistical and financial foundation
• Analyze data in price optimization software and develop scenarios to recommend every day and promotional prices for CMs
• Apply data-driven analytics to evaluate the marketplace and competitive data to optimally align pricing strategies within the marketplace and store-specific zones
• Evaluate the day-to-day pricing activities across multiple merchandise categories: Develop tools/reports to communication pricing trends and supporting analytics to assist merchandising
• Provide fact-based analysis to Merchandise Category and Planning Teams in selecting pricing strategies/rules that result in increased sales, profit and/or market share
• Oversee the pricing recommendations for each business category including seasonal and event pricing strategies
• Ensure alignment of pricing strategies and plans to category and company pricing objectives
• Support the development and implementation of methodologies and price tests to validate category strategies
• Manage the assignment of price zones and recommendations to improve store/price zone alignment
• Measure success of pricing changes and promotional activity ensure the team meets company expectations while maintain stated and approved pricing philosophies
Position Requirements
• One to three years’ experience in Business Administrations, Price Optimization, Statistics, Engineering, Programming business applications
• Knowledge of and interest in activity based costing, factor analysis, microeconomics, statistical process control, business process analysis, continuous improvement, and business modeling using such techniques as linear regression, experiments, and time series forecasting
• Programming skills and understanding of database structures
• Other preferred skills include SAS programming using existing databases, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with/contribute to a team
